The DZNE is a research institute covering all facets of dementia and neurodegenerative diseases in order to develop novel preventive and therapeutic approaches. It pursues an interdisciplinary scientific strategy that links fundamental research, clinical research, population studies and health care research. To accomplish this, the DZNE brings together excellent expertise distributed all over Germany. At its ten sites (Berlin, Bonn, Dresden, Göttingen, Magdeburg, Munich, Rostock/Greifswald, Tübingen, Ulm, and Witten) the DZNE cooperates closely with universities, university hospitals, and other partners. DZNE staff comprises more than 1.000 employees and more than 80 research groups. The DZNE is a member of the Helmholtz Association and one of six German Centres for Health Research (DZG) that were established by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) to combat major widespread diseases.
